During the Christmas break of December 2018, (you know, that really odd time between Christmas and new year where nobody really knows what day it is!), myself and the Bearded Wonder had a conversation about whether we would like to add a dog to our family and spoke of the different breeds we had when we were younger. I happened to mention that although I had never had a Dalmatian dog, that I had always wanted one and following a quick search, I had the phone in my hand and the number for a local lady dialled on my behalf. Within minutes, we had arranged to meet with her to view her beautiful family of Dally mum, dad and eight wonderful puppies who were just six weeks old.
When we arrived, it was crazy! The Bearded Wonder made the mistake of sitting on the floor and these adorable puppies jumped all over him tugging at his beard. For the eight that had been born, just three were left looking for their forever homes. I could not choose, I just wanted to take all three! Fortunately my husband bonded with one in particular and we placed our deposit, never looking back.
Ponco Thanos joined our family in January 2019 and was a little terror, getting into everything he could and destroying everything in sight (and not much has changed there!). He settled over the months and was our only puppy for eight months before his brother Marshall joined us in August 2019. Both boys are litter brothers and to make a long story short, we found him up for sale on a pet selling site following the relationship breakup of the couple who had original purchased him. Marshall was terrified and still is to a certain extent, but he is getting better. He is such a needy puppy, not letting us get to bed until late and then waking us up at 5.30am wanting some attention.
The boys have been with me working from home for the last twelve weeks and that does not look like it will be changing anytime soon. The boys miss their time with their friends at doggy day care and we hope that they will open up again, as long as it is deemed safe to do so, but in the meantime we have lots of funny stories to share with you and things that happen on our daily walks, so stay tuned!
If you want to get away from it all, why not try a dog friendly cabin in the Lake District?
