No gnome allotment home

Over the coming months you will start to see that a lot of my stories start with something that the dog(s) have done. This is the first of those posts!

During 2019, a local village held a summer fete and at the event was the secretary of our local allotment (that local, we did not know it existed!). We decided to get our names down on the waiting list as we had tried to grow fruit and veg in our garden and the dog decided to dig up everything the Bearded Wonder was planting! We were on the waiting list for around six months when we were told that a plot had come up and would we like to view and decide if we wanted to take it on.

The plot was not too bad and there were some ‘hidden gems’ left for us in the form of a gooseberry and white berry bush. There has been a lot of work to get it to where it is now however, we have only officially had our plot for two months and we are so incredibly proud of what we have achieved. Here is what we have started growing so far:

• Strawberries- both red and white
• Gooseberries
• White berries
• 3 x lots of different potatoes
• Sweetcorn
• Onions
• Garlic
• Broccoli
• Cabbage
• Cauliflower
• Brussel Sprouts (Bleugh!)
• Tomatoes
• Peppers
• Chillis
• Courgettes
• Cucumber
• Squash
• Pumpkins

It is all growing amazingly at the moment and I cannot wait to show it all to you. Next time, I will show you know how we are getting on and deliver some helpful pointers on what to do as a new allotment owner.
