No gnome allotment home

Over the coming months, you will see a lot of my stories start with the dog(s). This is the first of those posts!

In 2019 we attended a summer fete which was attended by the secretary of our local allotment.

We had tried to grow fruit and veg in our garden previously, but the dog decided to dig up everything the Bearded Wonder was planting!

It was because of this that we decided to get our names down on the waiting list.

The waiting list was around six months long and the plot that we were offered was not too bad. There were some ‘hidden gems’ left for us too in the form of a gooseberry and white berry bush.

We have put alot of work to get it to where it is now and we have officially had the plot for two months. To say that I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved is an understatement.

Here is what we are growing so far:

• Strawberries- both red and white
• Gooseberries
• White berries
• 3 x lots of different potatoes
• Sweetcorn
• Onions
• Garlic
• Broccoli
• Cabbage
• Cauliflower
• Brussel Sprouts (Bleugh!)
• Tomatoes
• Peppers
• Chillis
• Courgettes
• Cucumber
• Squash
• Pumpkins

It is all growing amazingly at the moment and I cannot wait to show it all to you. Next time, I will show you know how we are getting on and deliver some helpful pointers on what to do as new allotment owners.
